Perhaps it's best to let sleeping dogs lie. TONIGHT: NETS Tip-off: Pistons at New Jersey, 7:30, Continental Airlines Arena, East Rutherford, N.J. TV/radio: Fox Sports Net; WDFN-AM (1130), WTKA-AM (1050). Injuries: Detroit -- F Brian Cardinal (tendinitis), F Victor Alexander (back spasms), out. New Jersey -- F Jamie Feick (Achilles), G Brandon Armstrong (knee), out. Overview: The Nets entered Wednesday with a four-game lead in the Atlantic Division, even though they've lost two straight. The Pistons and Nets have split two games this season, both at the Palace. The Pistons practiced Wednesday with thoughts of putting the previous night's 99-71 disaster against Phoenix behind them and focused their sights on back-to-back games in the New York City area, starting tonight against the New Jersey Nets. "We talked about last night's game . . . briefly," said coach Rick Carlisle, who didn't feel like lingering on the subject. "I think our guys understand games like that one just can't happen with our team. Otherwise, not only can we lose, but lose in an embarrassing fashion. The disposition has got to be there at both ends of the court." The players agreed. "That game was an example of what happens if we're not physically and mentally ready to play, and that can happen against anybody," Michael Curry said. "We're just not a good team if we don't come ready to play -- and it doesn't matter who we're playing. Last night's game was a reminder." |
