There's a firestorm in town over the dismissal of Michael Jordan and it may rage long enough to singe Abe Pollin if he doesn't start paying attention to the fans of the team.

From boardrooms to barber shops, from Potomac to Anacostia, from the most serious basketball fans to people like my dear, sweet mother-in-law who watched Jordan play exactly twice in her life but is now angry, people are fed up with Pollin and the Wizards. Old people, young people, rich folks, poor folks, black and white, many people are expressing how fed up they are over years of incompetence from the Washington basketball franchise.

And for some -- me included -- the post-Jordan revisionists are really reaching. Such as where Pollin said he's looking for a new executive to hire so, and I quote, "people will be excited again."
