No one, no one, is more ready for the 76ers' opener tonight in the Reebok Pro Summer League than Sam Clancy.

The 6-7 forward is the University of Southern California's all-time leader in blocked shots (195), the Trojans' No. 3 all-time scorer (1,657 points), their No. 2 rebounder (839), and No. 5 in steals (134).

But the only thing he has been able to do since being drafted by the Sixers a year ago is wait and rehab from surgery to repair a dislocated left kneecap. Even though he was a second-round pick in 2002 (No. 45 overall), he never played a minute. He never even made the active roster.

But he's one of 13 players on the roster preparing to face the New Jersey Nets summer squad tonight at 6 o'clock in the first of six games at the Clark Athletic Center on the UMass-Boston campus through Saturday.
