Second-round draft choice Jason Kapono signed a contract with the Cavaliers yesterday, although the terms of the deal were not released. Kapono, a 6-8 forward from UCLA, was the 31st player taken in the 2003 draft. He was the first player in UCLA history to be named MVP in each of his four seasons and the only player to lead the team in scoring each of those seasons. In 11 summer league games with the Cavaliers, Kapono averaged 8.2 points in 22.6 minutes per game. "Jason is a proven scorer who has shown he can knock down perimeter shots," Cavaliers General Manager Jim Paxson said. "We feel he shows great potential and will grow to become a very effective player in this league." |
