Joseph Forte is no longer in the Sonics locker room. He is, however, still on the roster since the team has not formally waived him.

That's more of a technicality since there is no chance Forte will be with the team.

The Sonics are simply holding on to see if a trade can be worked out before the rest of the teams in the league begin training camp.

Under that scenario, the Sonics would still undoubtedly pay part of Forte's guaranteed salary of $1.1 million for the upcoming season.

Forte's release was announced on Monday, and Seattle will pay his full salary if another team doesn't trade for Forte or claim him off waivers.
