OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) The Golden State Warriors placed Nick Van Exel on the injured list Monday with left knee inflammation.

Van Exel had arthroscopic surgery on his knee last October, and spent eight games on the injured list last month with the same injury. He has averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 39 games this season.

Speedy Claxton, the Warriors' starting point guard, also is on the injured list with a broken hand. Avery Johnson, a 16-year veteran, is Golden State's probable starter for Tuesday's game against Indiana.

The Warriors also signed guard Rusty LaRue to a 10-day contract. LaRue, who has played for Utah and Chicago, was averaging 10.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17 games this season for Asheville of the NBDL.
