With five player participants and one coach in the 2004 Olympic Games, San Antonio Spurs fans had a vested interest in this years competition.

Recently singed to a long-term contract, Manu Ginobili impressed the world while carrying team Argentina to the gold medal along with fellow Argentinean and San Antonio Spur, Luis Scola.

Tim Duncan did what he could for the oft-scorned Team U.S.A whilst playing under Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

The Spur centers, Sean Marks and Robertas Javtokas, made solid contributions to their squads, New Zealand and Lithuania respectively.

"(Watching) was very difficult,'' said (Spurs Vice President) R.C. Buford, who was home in Texas. "You're always with the U.S. But there is an excitement for the success that Manu has obtained and to see Scola playing well. We had a vision and a plan, and it supports what we're hoping to see happen.''

The latest Olympic games only proved what everyone else already knew, basketball has indeed become a sport without borders.
