According to the Web site FIBA.com, Knicks front man Isiah Thomas is taking a serious look at French player Johan Petro, a player projected as a first-round pick for next year.

If the rumor is true, it may only bring back bad memories for Knicks fans as the last time the Knicks went after a French national in the fist round was in 1999, when they selected Frederic Weis as the 15th pick over Ron Artest. Weis was the victim of the now famous dunk by Vince Carter in the 2000 Olympics. He never made it to the NBA, and has become a long standing joke in New York.
