It took less than two days for the Cavaliers to suffer their first training-camp injury.

Reserve swingman Ira Newble sprained his right foot during the practice Wednesday night. The Cavs' medical staff reports that he will miss one to two weeks. He was not in uniform the intrasquad scrimmage Thursday night.

Newble, who played a career-high 74 games with 69 starts last season, has been dogged by various knee and foot problems since signing with the Cavs two years ago. He missed almost all of training camp two years ago with knee tendinitis. Last season, he missed two weeks with Achilles tendinitis.

With Newble out for perhaps all four preseason games next week, it likely will showcase the battle between Sasha Pavlovic and Luke Jackson. All three players will be jockeying for playing time behind Larry Hughes and LeBron James.

The Cavaliers also practiced and scrimmaged without Jahidi White on Thursday. He left practice with tendinitis in his left quadriceps muscle. White, in camp on a partially guaranteed contract, is in a heated battle to become the team's backup center. The Cavs have him listed as day-to-day.
