The Boston Globe reported on its Web site on Wednesday that Celtics bigman Kendrick Perkins has plantar fasciitis in his left foot and will miss the next three weeks. That's bad news for the 6-11 Celtics who have been operating without backup centers Michael Olowokandi (abdominal strain) and Theo Ratliff (back).

Celtics coach Doc Rivers told the paper that in the short term he will use a small lineup featuring power forward Al Jefferson at center, backed up by rookie forward Leon Powe and veteran Brian Scalabrine.

"We are going to have to play small now," Rivers said. "We have no choice."
