According to NBA sources, the Sonics may target Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach Monty Williams to join P.J. Carlesimo's staff, which has yet to be constructed.

Carlesimo said earlier this week that he had not made any calls or decisions toward building his staff. But he said Thursday that he wanted a former NBA player on his staff who is relatively young and could mentor Kevin Durant and Jeff Green.

Williams, the No. 2 assistant for Nate McMillan, is coaching Portland's Summer League team and is considered an emerging coaching star.
