Toronto Star - Maceo Baston officially signed his contract with the Raptors this week and is excited to be back with the club.
"The fact I'm coming here again in a different situation, a different team, playing with my former teammate Anthony (Parker) and a Dallas guy, Chris (Bosh) who I knew before, I'm excited," the 6-10 Baston said Tuesday. "It's a great team with a lot of great pieces, I'm just looking to fit in, be the glue and fit wherever I can."
He'll be given a chance to compete against the likes of Rasho Nesterovic and Kris Humphries in a front court backup role, utilizing his skills to add some punch to a Raptors frontline that needed help after the team finished near the bottom of the NBA in rebounding last season.
"I'm definitely going to bring shot blocking, defence, all the intanglibles, that's my game," he said. "I have a bit of an offensive game that's been under the radar for quite a while over here, in Europe they know about it.
"As far as playing, it's still early. Once guys get together, basically the cream will rise to the top. I'm not coming out here to take anybody's job, I'll just go and play my game and contribute. If I'm needed for 20 minutes or if I'm needed for one minute, I'll be ready." [READ]
