Rod Thorn is in no rush to fill the combo-guard vacancy the team has on its roster, though he remains interested in guys like Keith McLeod, Roger Mason, Robert Hite, and Anthony Roberson. Shooting accuracy is not a prerequisite, but it helps: It is likely to be a team weakness, now that Eddie House has departed for Boston, as the rest of the team shot a combined 34 percent from the arc last season.

"It's not imperative, but we need someone to make a shot," Thorn said. "We get a lot of wide-open 3s, so we want to get that percentage up."

It has been long rumored that Indiana might buy out veteran Darrell Armstrong, who has two years remaining on his deal. The 39-year-old has many of the skills the Nets would need, but Thorn cannot comment on a player still under contract with another team.

"We're still looking," Thorn said. "We might sign some guys on a make-the-team basis, and one of them might make it. But as far as a veteran guy goes, we'll see. All those guys think they're going to get more than the minimum."
