Davis still has two seasons left on the $84 million, six-year extension he signed with the New Orleans Hornets in 2002, but if he's willing to forfeit his guaranteed salary of $17.2 million in 2008-09, he can gain his freedom. "If there's nothing (contract-wise) and I have to play, I have to play," Davis, who was not available for comment Saturday, told the Times earlier this summer. "The way I look at it is, I have two years left on my contract. If there's an extension offered this year or next year, this is a place that I love. (But) I would like to know what my future is." |
