The Sioux Falls Skyforce today announced the acquisition of forward Damone Brown from the available player pool. Brown joined the team in Sioux Falls on Tuesday and is expected to travel to Austin for the game against the Toros on Nov. 30. “We are excited about the return of Damone Brown as he will bring leadership and versatility to our team,” said Head Coach Nate Tibbetts. “He can play multiple positions and is a proven scorer in this league.” Brown rejoins the Skyforce after having been a member of the team during the 2006-07 season when he played 25 games and averaged 15.1 points and 7.0 rebounds in 33.2 minutes. A D-League veteran, Brown has played parts of five seasons with North Charleston and Huntsville and maintains a career average of 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in 30.2 minutes. Brown is also a four-year NBA veteran, having played in 39 games, averaging 9.0 minutes, 2.8 points, and 1.3 rebounds as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers (2001-02), Toronto Raptors (2002-03), New Jersey Nets (2003-04) and Washington Wizards (2004-05). Prior to his time in the NBA, the 6-9, 212-pound Brown was a standout at Syracuse where he led the Orangemen with 8.8 rebounds per game and was second on the team with 16.9 points per game. For his efforts, Brown was named All-Big East Conference Second Team and earned NABC First Team All-District 2 and USABWA All-District 2 honors during that season. The addition of Brown is the first roster move of the season for the Skyforce that counts towards the nine allowed by D-League rules. To make room for Brown, the Skyforce released Evan Burns.
