LeBron James led the Cavs with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists while Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 24, 6, and 4. Cleveland shot 56% from the field, outrebounded Washington by 24, and turned the ball over just five times. No player scored more than eleven for the Wizards as Brendan Haywood led the team with 11 points and 5 rebounds. The Cavs recorded an assist on 39 of their 47 field goals.

The Detroit Pistons used a strong second quarter to take a lead over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, and they never relinquished their advantage en route to an 86-78 win. Richard Hamilton led the Pistons with 21 points, and Chauncey Billups added 19 and 3 assists. The 76ers outrebounded the Pistons by 14, but their 18 turnovers erased any advantage they were able to accumulate. Willie Green led Philadelphia with 16 points and 4 rebounds, and Samuel Dalembert added 6 points and 12 boards of his own.

Devin Harris led the Dallas Mavericks to a close win over the Charlotte Bobcats last night thanks to 23 points and 9 rebounds. Gerald Wallace, who wasn’t even a lock to play against Dallas, posted 22 points and 11 rebounds for Charlotte. The Mavericks led 30-17 going into the second quarter, and the Bobcats never led despite pulling close on several occasions. The teams were pretty evenly matched all night, but their slight advantage in the shooting department (47% to 44%) allowed Dallas to keep Charlotte at bay.

The Toronto Raptors handed the Boston Celtics a rare loss on Wednesday night thanks to a driving layup by Jose Calderon with eight seconds left in the game. Calderon led the Raptors with 24 points and 13 assists, and Chris Bosh added 23 and 7. Toronto shot 57% from the field against just 49% for Boston. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Boston outrebounded Toronto by ten, but the Raptors outscored the Celtics 30-21 in the fourth quarter. Andrea Bargnani posted 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists in the victory.

Portland jumped out to an early lead, but New Orleans rallied in the second quarter and never looked back. Chris Paul posted 18 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds for the Hornets; Peja Stojakovic added 12 points and 7 boards. New Orleans shot 47% from the floor against just 39% for Portland. LaMarcus Aldridge tallied 17 points and 8 rebounds for the Blazers, who have been trading wins-and-losses for the last two weeks.

Al Jefferson led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a rare win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night due to his 39 points and 15 rebounds. Minnesota shot 51% from the field and outrebounded Phoenix by twenty allowing the Timberwolves to overcome the Suns' outstanding 56% shooting. Steve Nash notched 21 points and 14 assists while Amare Stoudemire added 33 points and 7 rebounds. Marko Jaric contributed 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists for Minnesota, who posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Thanks to 25 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds from Hedo Turkoglu, the Orlando Magic easily knocked off the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. The Magic shot 54% from the field against the Grizzles, who shot 43% at home. Memphis outrebounded Orlando by seven, but their fifteen turnovers and poor defense allowed the Magic to dominate the game. Dwight Howard posted 16 points and 10 rebounds for Orlando, and Pau Gasol added 17 and 11 for Memphis. Rudy Gay notched 20 and 8 for the Grizzlies as he gears up for next month’s Slam Dunk Contest.

Despite playing without Luol Deng and Ben Gordon, the Chicago Bulls pummeled the Indiana Pacers at the United Center on Wednesday night. The Pacers, who were without Jermaine O’Neal and Troy Murphy, shot just 38% for the game and committed 19 turnovers. Kirk Hinrich led Chicago with 38 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds, easily his best performance of the season. Danny Granger starred for Indiana with 33 points, 7 boards,and 4 dimes. Joakim Noah, who hasn’t had the best of rookie campaigns, notched 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Josh Smith recorded a triple-double for the Atlanta Hawks last night, but it didn’t matter against the surging Denver Nuggets. Smith posted 22 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 5 blocks, but the Hawks shot just 39% from the floor and committed fifteen turnovers. Allen Iverson, playing with an injured wrist, scored 29 points and dished 6 assists for the Nuggets, and Marcus Camby added 13 points and 21 rebounds. Atlanta outrebounded Denver by six, but they sent the Nuggets to the foul line forty times at the Pepsi Center.

Tim Duncan notched 28 points and 17 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs easily knocked off the Los Angeles Lakers following a 31-12 third quarter advantage. The Lakers outrebounded the Spurs by 13, but they turned the ball over 22 times against San Antonio’s stifling defense. Kobe Bryant posted 29 points, 12 boards, and 5 assists for the Lakers; Lamar Odom added a double-double of his own. The Spurs were 11-for-23 from behind the three-point line, but the Lakers were just 5-for-15.

The Houston Rockets used a strong fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat the youthful Seattle Supersonics on Wednesday night. Yao Ming posted 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists while Tracy McGrady added 28, 4, and 5, as the Rockets held off several attempts by Kevin Durant to tie the game on the final possession. Durant scored 25 points, and the Sonics shot 51% from the floor. Seattle will look to notch their first victory of 2008 when they face Atlanta on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Clippers rode Chris Kaman’s 20 points and 21 rebounds to an easy victory over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. The Clippers held a 61-36 scoring advantage in the second half as they pulled away for the win. Rookie Al Thornton posted 23 points and 9 rebounds as the Clippers outrebounded the Kings by 10 and shot 46% from the field. Brad Miller led Sacramento with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists, but the Kings struggled to hold onto the ball as they turned it over 22 times. Sacramento also struggled from the foul line, going just 17-for-33.
