The Los Angeles Lakers announced today they have re-assigned rookie Coby Karl to their NBA Development League affiliate Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Karl was first assigned to the D-Fenders on Nov. 28 and was recalled to the Lakers on Dec. 24. His re-assignment is the 39th time an NBA player has been sent to his D-League affiliate this season.

In his first assignment, Karl played in 10 games (eight as a starter), averaging 18.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in 38.4 minutes. Karl was signed by the Lakers as a free agent on July 30, 2007, and has appeared in 11 games for them this season, averaging 1.3 points in 3.7 minutes.
