Maurice Evans had 27 points and Dwight Howard tallied 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Magic, who made 57% of their shots and scored 16 points off turnovers. Josh Childress posted 15 points and 6 rebounds off the bench and Marvin Williams scored another 16 points for the Hawks, who led by four at the half and grabbed six more offensive rebounds than Orlando. The victory allowed the Hornets to clinch the Southwest Division title and the second seed in the Western Conference. Hakim Warrick notched 17 points and 14 rebounds and Mike Conley contributed 13 points, 8 assists and 7 boards for the Grizzles, who outrebounded Portland by two but struggled from the field (42%).
