Phoenix point guard Steve Nash expects new Knicks' Coach Mike D'Antoni to turn around the struggling New York franchise, according to The Indianapolis Star.

"The city is going to love him; it's going to be a breath of fresh air for New Yorkers," Nash said in an interview on Bloomberg Television. "They've had so much negativity surrounding the team, but if anyone can really put out some optimism, it's Mike."

The team has only made one playoff appearance in seven seasons while D'Antoni led the Suns to four-straight postseason trips.

"Of anywhere, this is obviously the toughest place to be in that position," said Nash, who stays in New York during part of the offseason. "You really need to succeed right away or people just pile on. It's a difficult position for him."

"We all feel really good about what we are building. Although it was disappointing this season, we feel optimistic."

D'Antoni himself said on Thursday that he expects the team to compete for a playoff spot next season.
