After leading by only one single point after the first quarter, America were able to extend their lead through the end of the first half, but the margin still remains far from comfortable. A Deron Williams three pointer at the half time buzzer gave the US their biggest lead of the game at 12.

America did not have their first double digit lead until 2 minutes remained in the first half, but that was short lived with the Australians quickly getting back to single digits with a three point reply. The score at the half is 55-43.

Team USA are letting themselves down at the free throw line, going to the charity stripe 20 times but only hitting half.

Tempers almost flared during the second quarter when Australian Mark Worthington fouled Carmelo Anthony hard on a shot attempt deep under the basket. LeBron James came to his teammate's defense, but when Worthington refused to back down the referees were quick on the scene to take back control of the game.

Kobe Bryant (8 points) did his best to inspire his teammates with a number of impressive moves in the paint. James and Dwight Howard both have 12.

For Australia, Patrick Mills and Houston draft pick Brad Newley have 8 each, while Chris Anstey has 7.
