Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will specify the date he intends to have surgery on his injured right pinky finger, according to Orange County Register.

He needs the surgery to repair ligament damage in the finger.

Los Angeles has been awaiting his decision ever since Bryant returned from Beijing, and recovery time following the procedure is expected to be roughly six weeks.

The Lakers will kick off the 2008-09 season on Oct. 28 against the Blazers.
