The tentative selection of the site is subject to certain evaluation and testing. On Tuesday, October 14 City Council will consider a proposal for an early entry agreement with the property owner to conduct a due diligence evaluation, inspection and survey of the property to ensure its viability. That process includes environmental studies, ground stabilization and a general assessment of the current condition of the property as suitable for the practice facility. The inspection process will also be used to develop reliable cost estimates for construction of the facility. In March, Oklahoma City voters approved an extension of an existing sales tax to fund improvements to the Ford Center and the construction of a permanent NBA practice facility, if the City signed a lease with an NBA team. The lease, between the Professional Basketball Club, LLC and the City was signed in April. Construction of the new practice facility is expected to be completed in time for the 2010-11 Thunder season. |
