League sources said that Warriors' president Robert Rowell fired assistant general manager Pete D'Alessandro on Thursday. Assistant coach Larry Riley will assume the position.

Chris Mullin and Rowell have clashed publicly on several issues over the past few months.

Mullin, who is in the final year of his contract, hired D'Alessandro in 2004 as his director of basketball operations and promoted him to assistant GM when Rod Higgins left for Charlotte in 2007.

A source told the Contra Costa Times that D'Alessandro was fired for 'insubordination' and that he put the interests of agents and Mullin ahead of the franchise.
