Mark Cuban expects Stephon Marbury to attract a lot of attention if he is cut loose by the Knicks, he did stop short of saying that his own Dallas Mavericks will be one of the teams vying for the outcast point guard's services, the New York Post is reporting.

But that doesn't mean they will not. Cuban's comments were more about abiding to NBA rules than saying Marbury is not welcome in Dallas.

"Absolutely," Cuban said when asked the question of whether several teams will vie for Marbury's services. The Mavs owner then backed up, after once being fined for tampering.

"I take that back," Cuban said. "I'm not allowed to talk about players on other teams."

"I like Steph, like him a lot. He's a good guy. But teams have politics and issues. He's still a good player."
