The Trail Blazers' regular season is 10 days away and coach Maurice Cheeks has remained mum about which players he is leaning toward keeping on the roster.

The NBA deadline for solidifying rosters is Monday, Oct. 29, and the Blazers will need to make at least three cuts.

The players on the bubble are guards Rick Brunson and Mitchell Butler, centers Priest Lauderdale and Ruben Boumtje Boumtje and forward Johnny Taylor.

In the past, the Blazers have kept three point guards. That precedent would give Brunson the best chance of the group to make the team. Brunson has alternated with Erick Barkley in the first five exhibition games.

"I would like to have three guards and do it, but I don't know if I'm going to do it," Cheeks said. "If we don't keep three, we always have Scottie (Pippen) and Derek (Anderson) who could play there also. So we have the luxury of having versatility with the guys we have, but I would like to have three point guards."
