Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said Saturday that rookie forward Michael Beasley has to earn his playing time with the team.

"Mike's in a different situation than a lot of the top picks," Spoelstra said. "If you look at the top picks, three, four, five, they're playing on teams where it's a totally different situation, and they're getting minutes and allowed to play through ups and downs."

The Heat are trying to win games while working Beasley into their plans.

"He's learning and his situation is more realistic," Spoelstra added. "It's game to game, and that's what's normally expected of bench guys."
