Denver coach George Karl is happy with the team's play, but isn't ready to call the Nuggets contenders just yet.

"It's pretty impressive," Karl said of the team's 36-17 start, the best 53-game opening in franchise history.

However, Karl isn't ready to label the Nuggets as contenders.

"I don't think I'm going to make that statement until we win a playoff series," he said.
