The Celtics wanted Joe Smith, but opted to jump on Mikki Moore last week rather than wait to see if the Thunder bought Smith out.

Coach Doc Rivers claims that the team might still make an offer to Smith, but president Danny Ainge has said that he isn't an option.

"We thought he would get bought out," Rivers said. "We just didn't know for sure. We fully believed that eventually they would work it out. We just couldn’t take the gamble waiting."
