Kevin Garnett still isn't a lock to play in Game One of Boston's first-round series with Chicago this weekend.

"I think so," said coach Doc Rivers, when asked if Garnett would play in the first game of the postseason, "I don't know, honestly."

The Celtics will begin their title defense on Saturday when they host the Bulls at TD Banknorth Garden. Rivers said that Garnett's performance in practice on Thursday and Friday will determine his status.

"Yeah, he'll play," said Rivers. "And if we don't like what we see he won't. We haven't seen him play, so we don't know how it's going to turn out (Thursday). And then we don't know how it's going to feel the next day. We just don't know that, so we'll wait and see.

"Right now we're thinking that there will be no minute limitation. But, again, we don't know that until (today)."
