Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley, the first and second overall picks from last June's NBA Draft, respectively, accomplished the rare feat of reaching the playoffs in their first season.

The Bulls, who selected Rose first, and the Heat, who took Beasley second, both completed significant turnarounds this year to reverse their poor fortunes last season.

Chicago went 41-41 this season, an improvement from last year's 33-49 mark. They beat the odds to land the first overall pick during last May's NBA Draft Lottery.

Miami's turnaround from a 15-67 season, to a 43-39 effort, was due in large part to a healthy, MVP-type season from Dwyane Wade.

The last time the first and second picks in an NBA Draft both made the playoffs with the team that drafted them was in 1985.

Houston took Hakeem Olajuwon with the first pick in the 1984 NBA Draft, and Portland selected Saw Bowie second overall.

Both the Rockets and Trail Blazers qualified for the postseason the following season, with neither team advancing past the second round.

The Blazers acquired the second overall pick from the Pacers in a trade shortly after the 1981 season.

Therefore, Rose and Beasley are the first one-two combination to make the playoffs with their drafted team in 24 years.

RealGM Note: LaMarcus Aldridge was drafted by the Bulls, who made the playoffs the following season, with the second overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, but he was traded to the Blazers, who were in the Lottery the following year.
