Billy Hunter, leader of the players association, said he wants all NBA owners to disclose team financial records in advance of collective bargaining negotiations.

Under the rules, the NBA Players Association can conduct limited audits of five teams a year, Hunter said.

“We would like as much information as we can get,” Hunter said in a telephone interview yesterday. “I would welcome them completely opening up their books.”

The NBA’s current collective bargaining agreement runs through 2011.

“We will open the books of all teams as part of collective bargaining, just as we have done in our prior negotiations with the players,” league spokesman Tim Frank said in an e-mail.
