Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said in a recent radio interview that he is almost certain that the club would have traded Dirk Nowitzki for Kobe Bryant in 2007.

"Two years ago, I can't say with 100% certainty but I can say that the discussions went far along and probably with about 80% certainty we could have done it," Cuban told ESPN Radio Dallas.

"I always had the feeling that the devil you knew was better than the devil you didn't know. You look at Kobe and you say, 'Look, this guy is a great, great, great, great player but he wasn't great enough to even get his team to the playoffs.' We had a team that was making progress, doing well and we ended up taking that team to the finals."
