Sean May was well aware that his workout with the Kings last month was essential to the rest of his career.

"When I worked out for the Kings (in Las Vegas last month), I felt my career was on the line," May told the Sacramento Bee. "I still feel like that with the season coming. I am ready for a fresh start. I will definitely get back to where I once was."

May signed a one-year deal with the Kings on Monday worth the veteran minimum's of $884,881.

The forward has had three surgeries on his right knee since the Bobcats selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.

"I feel great, the best I have felt in a long time," May, added. "All of the doctors I have talked to and players that went through microfracture like me, like Amare Stoudemire, told me that the thing I have on my side is youth."
