Greece defeated Slovenia 57-56 on Sunday to win the bronze medal at the European basketball championship.

Sofokolis Schortsanitis led Greece with 23 points.

Vassilis Spanoulis missed two free throws with 4.6 seconds left that could have sealed the victory, but Slovenia's Bostjan Nachbar couldn't hit a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer.
