Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich is fine with being the first player off the bench this season.

Hinrich, who is entering his seventh NBA season, struggled a little bit last year due to injury and the emergence of Derrick Rose.

"I'm excited," Hinrich told the Chicago Sun-Times. "I feel like I have an opportunity to play big minutes and help this team make another step forward and get better and get to the playoffs and that type of deal."

He averaged a career-low 9.9 points last season and is looking to be more aggressive.

"I'm focusing on just playing aggressive offensively, keeping my defensive intensity and just trying to help some of the guys learn," he added. "I realize I'm in position to be somewhat of a leader and try to do that."
