Erick Strickland opted out of the final 3 years of his contract in the offseason. Instead of cashing in on a guaranteed $6 million, Strickland will now play for the veteran's minimum.

The New York Post reports that the Boston Celtics will sign Strickland today. The 6-3, five-year vet will get a guaranteed $653,350 deal.

The Celtics have traditionally carried 3 point guards in the past. With Randy Brown injured and Chris Herren cut before the season, Strickland will add some depth at both guard positions.
