Hawks Add Two Former Georgia Tech Guards to Backcourt

The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to terms with Denver Nuggets free agent guard Jon Barry and Indiana Pacers free agent guard Kenny Anderson on contracts for the 2004-05 season, sources told RealGM.com early Thursday.

Official terms were not disclosed, although it's likely Anderson's contract is for one year. Barry's may be as long as two years.

Both players played for Bobby Cremins at Georgia Tech, with Anderson leaving after his freshman year in 1991 and Barry departing after four years in 1992.

Jon Barry Will Likely Join Hawks

After one season with the Nuggets, the free-agent guard is poised to sign a contract with the Hawks. Barry began a string of eight consecutive playoff appearances with Atlanta in 1997.

The deal will not happen until the Nuggets spend the $2.3 million they have remaining under the salary cap. After this is done, the Nuggets can begin using its unlimited number of minimum-salary exceptions.
