Hawks Are Prime To Land Some Big Names In the Free Agent Market

The worst season in Hawks history is finally over. No more twenty-point blowouts to watch; no more half-empty arenas; no more embarrassment when you tell people you write about the Hawks (personal experience). It’s all over.….at least until next season.

This is the time we’ve all been waiting for—the offseason. Yes, I know the playoffs are going on, but for us die-hard Hawks fans, the offseason speculation is running rampant.

Why are we so excited? It’s simple—all the struggles of this season were for the summer. The reason we cleaned house was to set ourselves up to make a run at some top-notch free agents and potentially land the top pick in the draft. Hawks fans can’t help but think of all the possibilities—the uber-talented line-ups, the free agent signings, trades, draft picks, etc.

Hawks Activate Willis; Send Newly Signed Thomas To IL

The Atlanta Hawks today activated center Kevin Willis, and placed forward James Thomas on the injured list due to back spasms, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Billy Knight. Willis has missed 20 straight games and 28-of-the-last-29 contests due to lower back strain. Thomas has played in two games for the Hawks, averaging 1.0 ppg and 1.0 rpg (1-2 FGs) since signing on April 9. The active roster now stands at 12, with Obinna Ekezie (left shoulder strain), Al Harrington (tendinitis, right knee) and Thomas on the injured list.
