Hawks To Look To Trade Down And Sign Swift

With a need for a point guard and Marvin Williams the second best talent in the draft, the Hawks will look to trade their #2 overall selection to the Bobcats for the fifth and thirteenth pick, where they can draft Deron Williams.

The Hawks will also look to sign Stromile Swift in free agency, as they have nearly $20 million in cap space.

Celtics Dreamer Turned Hawks Owner Remains Content

Boston entrepreneur and philanthropist Steve Belkin, has almost owned the Celtics twice and as an owner of the Hawks sent Antoine Walker back home to Boston. After a season where his Atlanta Hawks won a franchise low 13 games and his NHL team, the Atlanta Thrashers didn’t even take the ice, Belkin still remains satisfied with the whole business of ownership.

''It's exceeded my expectations," said Belkin yesterday. ''It's a lot more work than I thought. Our [basketball] team's record wasn't that good, but we have a long-term vision. We have some young rookies who are quite good. And now we have a draft pick that will significantly help us."

Luck Eludes The Atlanta Hawks...Again

Lottery luck continues to allude the Atlanta Hawks. Statistically, they had the best chance to land the number one overall selection. This was the worst season in franchise history. It seemed only fair to get the top pick. But no, the Milwaukee Bucks get that honor. They came in second.

Though in this draft, not having the number one pick could be a blessing in disguise. Every scout, analyst, and fan has pointed out that this draft class doesn’t feature any "stars". There’s no LeBron James, Dwight Howard, or Yao Ming; no can’t-miss franchise cornerstone.
