Hawks' Johnson Might Miss Rest Of Season

Hawks leading scorer Joe Johnson might be done for the season due to a right calf strain.

"He could be out for the rest of the season," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said Wednesday before the Hawks' game against Charlotte. Johnson was injured in a loss at Miami on March 5 and hasn't played since for the Hawks, who are out of the playoff picture.

"He just got off crutches. We're not going to rush him back," Woodson said.

Johnson Could Be Done For Season

Joe Johnson could be out three to four weeks, and possibly the remainder of the season due to a deep contusion in his right calf muscle.

Johnson was kicked in the leg by teammate Esteban Batista early in Monday's loss to Miami and was later kneed in the thigh of the same leg by the Heat's Eddie Jones. He played through both injuries.

A hematoma formed under the calf muscle, and Johnson had to go to the hospital early Tuesday morning.

The Hawks will be without the services of the following players on Wednesday against Washington – guards Joe Johnson (contusion, right calf) and Speedy Claxton (sore left knee) and forward Marvin Williams (contusion, lower back). Johnson and Williams both suffered their injuries against Miami Monday night, while Claxton will miss his second consecutive contest.
