Davis admits mistake

John Denton of the Florida Today reports: Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ricky Davis admits he made a mistake by taking a shot on his own team's goal in an attempt to get a triple-double.

"There's not much I can say. Sure, it was a mistake, but I've got to live with it and move on,'' said Davis. "It's all kind of funny to me how big something can get blown up out of proportion. But I just laugh about it and it'll make me come out and work even harder.''

Cavs' Davis fined for trying to pad stats

The Cavaliers fined Ricky Davis an undisclosed sum for trying to pad his statistics by shooting at the opponent's basket.

Coach Keith Smart initially said that embarrassment was punishment enough for Cleveland's leading scorer. But the team said Tuesday night that Davis has been fined.

Davis was hoping to get one more rebound during a 122-95 victory over Utah on Sunday. He was attempting to reach his first career triple-double in the game's final seconds.
