LeBron: I Don't Need To Play In Preseason

Cavaliers' star LeBron James claims that he doesn't need to play in the preseason in order to gear up for the 82-game regular season that will kick off later this month.

"I don't care if I play, 10, 15, 20 minutes," James said. "I'm ready. I'm in shape. The minutes won't go up."

"I'm just going to keep on playing the same minutes I've been doing and chill out in the second half because I'm prepared for the game on the 28th."

James isn't worried about the development of chemistry with his teammates.

"We can do that in practice." James said. "I sat out the first week — I practiced only one or two times — I've been going through every session for the last week. We're going to get our work done in practice and get ready to play."

Big Ben's Back Becoming A Problem?

Cavaliers' forward Ben Wallace only took part in the noncontact portion of practice on Thursday because of back issues.

Wallace endured back problems for a majority of last season after landing in Cleveland. Coach Mike Brown is downplaying the injury but wants to be cautious in the preseason.

"Could he have gone today? Yes," Brown said. "Could he have taped it up and gone if it was a playoff game? He probably could have."

Gibson Didn't Use Agent To Negotiate New Deal With Cavs

Daniel Gibson said he wasn't even close to leaving the Cavs in the summer as a restricted free agent.

Gibson didn't use an agent to negotiate his deal, relying largely on his father.

"Right now it's a matter of how much I love the game, and [I'm] just ready to get back on the court," he said. "No matter how much I play for, I would still play the game for free."
