Cuban Looking To Payton For Some Much Needed Passing

According to Art Garcia of the Star-Telegram, The Dallas Mavericks are interested in aquiring Gary Payton if and when the all-star point guard hits the market.

"I never knew how good Gary was until I coached him in the [2002] All-Star Game," Mavs coach Don Nelson said. "He's one of the best players I ever coached."

Payton would bring in a much needed passing game for the Mav’s who average an NBA worst of 17.5 assists a game. Jason Terry is the team leader with 3.6 dimes per game.

Don Nelson Works Mavs Hard On Christmas

Don Nelson and the Dallas Mavericks had a difficult practice on Christmas, reconvening after a two-day break, and if any of the players had forgotten they went into halftime after a 13-point loss at Atlanta.

"I was mad at them," Nelson said. "I hold a grudge. I was still mad at them for the performance in Atlanta. So I wasn't really asking how they felt. It was more how I felt. I believe they understood after the Atlanta game that I was not a happy guy."
