Mavs Could Buy Out Eddie Jones

The Mavericks are leaving open the possibilty of buying out the contract of injured guard Eddie Jones.

Dallas hopes he's able to recover from a left hamstring problem, but it's not a definite.

"Right now, our preference is to see where he's at, and if he can help us," President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson said. "He has to get healthy before we can determine that."

Asked if a buyout was possible, Nelson said, "That's a conversation for later on. Right now, we need to get him healthy."

Jones will earn $1.9 million this season.

Dallas Leading Race For 2010 All-Star Game?

Projected candidates to host the 2010 NBA All-Star Game include Dallas, Toronto, Charlotte, and New York.

"There are several places that we're considering," said Commissioner David Stern. "We are aiming to have a decision shortly after the season starts."

Dallas appears to be the front-runner. There has been a proposal to have the game at the new Cowboys' Stadium, which would allow all the Mavericks season ticket-holders to be able to attend.

"Really don't have any idea what our chances are, or what happens [venue-wise] if we do get it in a few years," said Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban.
