Bobcats' Johnson starting regional sports network

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Charlotte Bobcats owner Bob Johnson will launch a regional sports network to broadcast the team's games in the Carolinas.

Carolinas Sports Entertainment Television will debut in October in the two states, in time for the Bobcats' inaugural season, Johnson announced Wednesday.

``Sports, in my opinion, is inherently local,'' said Johnson, who made his fortune as founder of Black Entertainment Television.

C-SET will air about 60 Bobcats games live, along with pregame and postgame shows and a weekly coach's show. The network also plans to broadcast about 15 of Charlotte Sting's WNBA games.

Johnson hopes to also air minor league, college and high school sports events in North and South Carolina.
