Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes: With Stephon Marbury, Jason Kidd, Mike Bibby and Jason Williams off the market -- and the Heat pessimistic about acquiring Gary Payton -- Miami's future at point guard is looking like it could be Anthony Carter and a cheap veteran free agent.
Heat coach Pat Riley said Thursday it's unlikely Miami can pull off a trade for Payton,
reiterated he would be comfortable with Carter as a starter.
