Heat Would Have Interest In Calderon?

The Miami Heat are in need of a point guard and could be in position to draft Derrick Rose with a high lottery pick, but they could turn their sights towards a free agent.

They could offer their mid-level exception to restricted free agent Jose Calderon, but Toronto is expected to match any offer the point guard receives, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Heat Assign Cook And Anthony To D-League

The Miami Heat announced today that Daequan Cook and Joel Anthony have been assigned to the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League. The Energy was assigned as the Heat’s D-League affiliate prior to the start of the 2007-08 season. They are also the affiliate of the Chicago Bulls. Cook has appeared in 38 games (two starts) for the Heat this season, averaging 7.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 19.5 minutes per game. He was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 21st pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, and acquired by the Heat in a draft day trade. Prior to his time with the Heat, Cook played one season at The Ohio State University before becoming an early entry candidate, averaging 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 39 games. He was also named Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year and earned Honorable Mention All Big Ten honors. Anthony has appeared in four games for the HEAT this season, and is averaging 7.8 minutes per game. He was signed by the Heat as a free agent on July 3, 2007 and played in four summer league games, averaging 1.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.25 blocks in 21.5 minutes per game. Prior to that, he played two seasons at UNLV and averaged 3.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.31 blocks in 68 games.

Miami Finally Wins In The RGM Daily Rundown For Feb. 24th's Games

The Miami Heat posted their first win in twelve tries on Tuesday night. They pummeled the Sacramento Kings 107-86 in South Beach. Shawn Marion led the Miami Heat to a win over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night, the team’s first victory in a month. Marion notched 24 points and 8 rebounds, and Dwyane Wade added 15 points and 9 assists for the Heat, who hit 51% of their shots and outrebounded the Kings by three. Spencer Hawes, Sacramento’s first round draft pick, led the team with 16 points. Kevin Martin and Ron Artest both added 14 points for the Kings, who had just eight second chance points.

Vince Carter starred with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Josh Boone added 12 points and 11 boards for the Nets, who outrebounded the Magic by three but were dominated in the paint.

Williams had 37 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Michael Redd added 25 points for the Bucks, who went to the foul line thirty-seven times and turned the ball over on only eight occasions. LeBron James had 35 points and 6 assists for Cleveland, who shot 49% on the night and outrebounded Milwaukee on the road. The difference was from the charity stripe, though, as the Cavs attempted just fourteen foul shots.

Carlos Boozer tallied 34 points and 8 rebounds, and Deron Williams added 18 points and 9 assists for Utah, who shot 46% from the floor but turned the ball over an astounding 24 times.

Rudy Gay led with 36 points, and Hakim Warrick added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who made all thirteen of their free throws and turned the ball over just nine times.

Luther Head tallied 18 points, and Luis Scola added 14 points for the Rockets, who outrebounded Washington by eighteen and enjoyed superior bench play. Antawn Jamison had 18 points and 9 rebounds, and Nick Young added 16 points and 5 boards off the bench for the Wizards, who shot a dismal 31% on the night and were without Caron Butler once again.

Monta Ellis led the Golden State Warriors to a narrow win over the Seattle Supersonics on Tuesday night. Ellis notched 30 points and 6 rebounds, and Baron Davis added 20 points and 10 assists for the Warriors, who forced 24 Seattle turnovers and got 31 points from their bench. Kevin Durant and Jeff Green each scored 21, and Nick Collison added 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Sonics, who shot 50% from the field but struggled to take care of the ball. Luke Ridnour dished 15 assists for Seattle, who missed all four of their three-point attempts against Golden State.
