Will Kidd Return to His High School Court?

Jason Kidd played many of his high school basketball games at the Oakland Coliseum and with the Nets looking to move the point guard, the Golden State Warriors are one franchise, which may be willing to take on his gigantic contract. He would make the Warriors good youthful nucleus that much better and could possibly end their decade long playoff drought.

Rod Thorn May Leave Over Penny Pinching

New Jersey Nets Owner Bruce Ratner's penny-pinching wishes may cost the Nets one of their two stars in Kenyon Martin or Jason Kidd this summer.

Thorn, the man perhaps most responsible for turning around a woeful Nets franchise, has one season left (2004-2005) on his contract, and some players have expressed concern about whether the extremely popular CEO will want to return if in fact new ownership is not committed to winning like the previous regime was.

Thorn politely declined to discuss his future.

"I'm under contract and I expect to honor my contract," Thorn said.

Ewing Turns Down Nets Offer, Hopes For New York

Patrick Ewing turned down an offer to become an assistant coach with the New Jersey Nets yesterday, and many are wondering if it's to get a shot at returning to the club that drafted him 19 years ago.

"The Nets offered me a good position," Ewing said over the telephone yesterday, "but I didn't think at this point in time it was the right move for me to make."

Ewing, who completed his first season as an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets, spoke with Knicks president Isiah Thomas three weeks ago about possibly rejoining the Knicks. However, there are no vacancies on Lenny Wilkens' staff, and Ewing is reluctant to take a front-office position with an undefined role. The last thing Ewing wants is to become a glorified mascot for the franchise.

Also, Ewing has said on several occasions that his goal is to become an NBA head coach, and his chances could be hurt if he moves into the management side of basketball.
