"My back is getting better, and I'm dying to get back on the court. I'm not going to have any day where I'm not doing anything," Stojakovic said. "I always have to be in some kind of shape. I'm running and lifting three times a week. "I feel bad because I was brought here to help make us a better team," said Stojakovic. "I have to prove to myself that I can step on the court and become the player that I was before. I've talked to some of the guys who had similar surgery that I had, and they came back. It's going to be up to me." "I know he's disappointed about this season because of something he couldn't help with the injury," Hornets Coach Byron Scott said. "But getting ready for next season can be helped, and I'm going to check on him like I always do. I know Peja is going to work his tail off." New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul had a screw inserted in his left foot Monday and will likely be unable to participate in camp with the U.S. basketball team this summer, his agent said.
Peja Stojakovic said he plans to continue his daily morning runs and workouts in the gym for the entire offseason. In the meantime, he will continue to go through his rehabilitation work monitored by the Hornets' training staff in Oklahoma City until May 12 before leaving for his offseason home in Greece.
Hornets center Tyson Chandler had surgery on his left big toe Friday, and coach Byron Scott said point guard Chris Paul will have a procedure done on his left foot next week.
