Forte feels Sonics "wronged" him

Jayda Evans of the Seattle Times reports that Joe Forte is still a little sour about his suspension levied by the Sonics.

Forte, who has filed a claim with the NBA players association, said Jerome James approached him after he had gotten out of the shower where he had been singing after a loss to the Wizards. Forte became fearful.

"I'm common-people size and he ran up on me," said Forte, who said the scene was similar to when James had to be held back by Gary Payton from trying to attack Sonics Coach Nate McMillan earlier this season. "Had he hit me he could have killed me. I'm the victim in this situation and I'm going to continue to speak out about this. ... When there's a fight, both parties are suspended."

Forte suspended, trade looms

Frank Hughes of the Tacoma News Tribune is reporting that Joe Forte has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.

Hughes also reports that the Sonics, who just last month picked up an option on Forte's final year of his contract, will be looking to move the guard this summer.

Forte has been reportedly disruptive during practices and has been accused of taunting teammates he felt he was better than. Forte has also refused to go on the injured list on several occasions this season.

Wilken says Iverson is Olympian

The Star Tribune is reporting that Lenny Wilkens feels that Allen Iverson should be a part of the Olympic squad.

"How could he not be on that team?" Wilkens said.

Wilkens also said he felt it was unfair to make such an accomplished player wait for a spot on the team.

Stu Jackson, chairman of the USA Basketball Committee that chooses the players, has said that Iverson is being considered.

So far the only players to accept invitations are Seattle's Ray Allen, Orlando's Tracy McGrady, Scaramento's Mike Bibby, San Antonio's Tim Duncan, and New Jersey's Jason Kidd.

Laker's guard Kobe Bryant and Minnesota forward Kevin Garnett have recieved invitations, but have yet to accept.
